Cabinet and woodwork
Cabinet repairs, veneer work, losses and reconstruction of wooden elements of the instrument.
The cabinet of an upright or grand piano is more than a decorative shell. It is made of many wooden elements that can crack, warp, loosen or lose sections of veneer and detail over decades of use. Before starting work we assess the construction and damage so that as much original material as possible can be retained.
Woodwork may include repairing cracks and joints, filling losses, repairing or reconstructing selected components and working with veneer. This stage restores the cabinet’s form and prepares it for finishing without erasing the historical character of the instrument.
